| This has been bothering me since anime conventions and videos that are Invader Zim. Invader Zim was made in America and there has been many languages for this show, especially Japanese. The show is licensed by Anime Works aka Media Blasters. I went to Suncoast to buy the three volumes and it was under the anime rack. Is Invader Zim an anime show? People say that to be an anime, it has to originate from Japan. But what do you think about this? I think most people say that it is an anime because of the appearance of the show and the drawing looks more like anime than on a cartoon. Please help me on this, it's confusing me so! | |

| Yeah, I think the Invader Zim of cartoon or anime thing is similar to the Avatar: The Last Air Bender, but I don't want to get off topic on that show just yet. | |

| It's not just the being made in America bit, but almost all anime originated as a manga or four panel comic. Avatar and Zim did not start as a manga. X3 But Zim is widely treated as an anime. | |

| Well the idea of the design of Zim was from a poster from Squee's comic so it would be similar to anime starting from manga. | |

| Its not an anime.
Jhonen made Squee and started off making comics. Which is where IZ came into play. Pretty much it went like "Hey Maybe I should make a show???". He hadthought about it for a while and then finally started to make a show. :/
Which is probably the biggest reason why people are saying its an anime. Also, the majority of IZ's veiwers are big time anime fans. Which also contributes.
